SAN DIEGO, CA (January 11, 2012) – On February 1, St. Germain’s Bistro & Café in Encinitas launches Lady Chef, a quarterly guest chef series featuring San Diego’s top female chefs including: Isabel Cruz, restaurateur, chef and author, Isabel’s Restaurants; Dawn Parks, owner and executive chef of The Wild Thyme Company-Catering and Events; Kari Rich, owner and executive chef of Food Farm Truck; and Alvanette Kauwalu, a personal chef specializing in Hawaiian and Asian cuisine. Every three months a different Lady Chef will create a special dinner menu for St. Germain’s similar to how an art gallery features new artists. The menu will be prepared in collaboration with St. Germain’s own lady chef, executive chef, Kaitlin Ramos.
Nino “Neens” Camilo, founder of I Love Poke Festival, is the curator of the Lady Chef series, which he created to lively up the dinner scene of the popular Encinitas establishment. Neens said, “Lady chefs are the minority in the industry, but many females are the best in the biz, so why not give them a special time to shine? We’re also making the cuisine of the featured chefs more accessible to North County and giving foodies an opportunity to experience their amazing flavors and talent."
The Lady Chef series will debut on February 1 with Isabel Cruz, executive chef and owner of San Diego’s Barrio Star, Coffee Cup and Isabel’s Cantina. Throughout the month diners will savor the bold Latin flavors of Isabel’s cuisine in a specially created menu featuring dishes from her restaurants and cookbook, Isabel's Cantina. The Lady Chef launch will include a book signing during dinner on February 1, a special Taco Tuesday all month long and a Valentine’s Day menu.
In between the quarterly dinner installments St. Germain’s chef, Kaitlin Ramos, will showcase a seasonally inspired menu of French bistro and coastal California cuisine during breakfast, lunch and dinner. The month of October will be dedicated to breast cancer awareness and the menu will consist of recipes from all five Lady Chefs. The quarterly Lady Chef series schedule includes:
