The Wedding Crasher You Didn’t Expect: RAIN

Don't let the rain take away from your big day.

When the rain crashes your big day, it can be a total bummer. BUT! That shouldn't stop you from having the best day ever. As professionals, we are equipped and ready to handle these situations.

Here are some of our tips about preparing for the rain:

Create a Back Up Plan

If you're getting married during San Diego's May Gray, June Gloom, or our rainy season, it's important to keep the weather in mind. If possible, choose a venue that has an indoor option or covered area. You can also add rentals for tents of canopies to help keep you and your guests dry.

Communicate with Your Guests & Vendors

Weather can be unpredictable, but it is important to inform your guests and vendors what the plans are if anything does change. For guests: sending out emails, calls or texts, communicating your rainy day plans can help guests prepare and coordinate their plans for attending. For vendors: we need to know about your plans for your event if the rain affects any changes made to your big day. Even if you don’t think having a rainy day plan is needed, communicating these ahead of time allows us to better prepare our team and equipment we bring to site. Information like timelines, or set up changes are key to continuing with having a successful event.

Be Flexible

The rain can add a lot more stress and unexpected issues to the plans for the day. Being flexible is a great way to help make adjustments as needed. Timing can be the most affected by the weather so it’s important to make adjustments as needed to help ensure that things can still run smoothly as planned.

Options for Comfort

Having options such as umbrellas, heaters, or covered seating can really make a huge difference by providing comfort to guests. The rain can really dampen the mood but having options to keep guests comfortable and happy can easily create a ripple effect for the rest of the night.

Stay Positive!

Keeping the mood lighthearted and energy high. Embrace it, it can create fun moments you'll never forget. Plus- having rain on your big day is also a sign of good luck.

Even though you may not plan for it, it could be a fun memorable part of your big day. If you’re ever unsure about what options are available for a rain alternative, our team can definitely help guide you about how we prepare and how we can apply that to your venue. We have catered at the majority of the venues throughout San Diego and have a deep understanding of the venue, their policies, and what would be best to plan for a rainy day.
